About SWOS

SWOS (Foundation for the Advancement of Scientific Research in Suriname) was founded in January 2000 with the purpose of stimulating and supporting scientific research, particularly medical research. This includes the assistance and support of researchers in the field.

In assisting young researchers, we also focus on the acquirement and administration of the necessary funding. The foundation itself can initiate research projects that are deemed relevant for Suriname, as well as locate financial support to carry out these projects. In addition, SWOS wants to be a platform for the presentation and discussion of scientific research findings. By providing an overview of current research projects in Suriname, other researchers will be stimulated to come forward with their results. Finally, the foundation will maintain contact and exchange information with organizations and agencies that perform or support scientific research.
